Belize is a small country located in Central America, with a rich and diverse bird fauna. Belize is home to over 500 species of birds, making it a premier birding destination. The country’s diverse habitats, including rainforests, wetlands, savannas, and coastal areas, support an abundance of bird life.
In addition to being an important habitat for resident bird species, Belize is also a key stopover site for many migratory bird species that travel between North and South America. The country’s protected areas, such as the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary and the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, provide important breeding and feeding grounds for both resident and migratory species.
