BACKSTORY

This was one of those species that seemed determined to avoid my camera. I had seen Pale-vented Pigeons previously in four different countries, but somehow had never managed to get a photograph I was happy with. I finally got my opportunity at Saní Lodge in Ecuador’s Orellana Province, when this bird perched in the open just after a tropical downpour. It may not be one of my most spectacular photographs, but after years of missed opportunities, finally getting the shot made it memorable.
